Who Am I ?
An Introduction to ADAM ALEKSANDER
1: Who am I?
Adam Aleksander, Experiential Designer.
2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?
Simply put I transform Events and Parties into Fine Art. I’m working on proposals for big multi-day festivals, and multi-day events.
3: Where are you from and where are you going?
I grew up in a small town outside of Pittsburgh in cultural poverty. I’m hoping to be traveling all around the country quite soon creating amazing experiences for people. I want to bring people back to reality from the digital age. I want to re-create nightlife.
4: Who is your biggest hero?
My biggest heroes are the heroic self-made men of our society. I love the rags to riches stories of industrial revolution kings: John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, and Thomas Lipton. Their stories are so inspiring.
5: What book is your bible?
Gentleman: A Timeless Guide to Fashion (Author: Bernhard Roetzel, Publisher: HF Ullmann). The book talks a lot about the famous pillars of our society and how they dressed and influenced fashion. This taught me how important it is to dress to activate your persona.
6: What are some things you love? And some things you hate?
I love fear; being able to look your most terrifying fear in the eyes, recognize it and to go through with your task. Conquering fear is so exhilarating.
I hate people who only half do something. So many people are afraid to really go after what they want out of fear of failure or they don’t want to put in the hard work to pull it off. A fear of failure is the death of creativity.
7: What is your raison d’etre?
Very simply: to be able to make people happy and take their mind off all the heavy stuff. That’s why I do what I do.
8: What is your favorite color?
It’s a color combination. Dark English Green / Dark Oak Brown.
9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?
Colossus–a one man powerhouse. Invulnerable.
10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?
USA Bar. A secret bar in the basement of a latin restaurant that feels like your grandpa’s basement. Totally unpretentious. Each time I go in there, it’s a completely different crowd. I also love dive bars.
11: What turns you on?
Looking back upon successful projects.
12: What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were to ask it?
Q: What is my dream project?
A: My dream venue is P.S.1 and their Saturday Warm Up parties. I want to utilize that large outdoor space, do the most unbelievable installation, and throw a series of curated parties for the summer. That would be my dream solo exhibition.
