Who Am I ?
An Introduction to PHILLIP SALEM
1: Who am I?
My name is Phillip (or Philly as many friends call me). I am a recent graduate from The Fashion Institute of Technology trying to figure out what happens next now that all the tests, project and papers have been turned in. I’m also constantly singing and dancing everywhere and anywhere, I have a deep love for traveling, and I laugh at just about everything.
2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?
I have an amazing project in the works, but can’t give too much detail about it because I don’t want to jinx it! But to give you a hint it mixes my passion for broadcast and my knowledge with fashion into one happy family. Check out my website to get a small hint on the broadcast side! In the meantime while I make my “top secret” adventure come to life, I work at ABC Kitchen in the Flat Iron District and Industry Bar in Hell’s Kitchen! Come visit me!
3: Where are you from and where are you going?
I am from the beautiful city of Akron, Ohio! I have a deep love for my hometown and am so blessed to have made my best friends there. Most people say they will have a vacation home in some tropical location, but I always say I will have a vacation home in Ohio when I make it! And to answer the question of where I am going…hopefully one day to the moon! That would be so much fun. I’m hoping to go with Lance Bass if he is still going.
4: Who is your biggest hero?
My mother! She taught me strength and gave me guidance; whenever faith was lost she was there to find it. She has inspired me to be who I am today and gave me such a strong faith to keep my halo bright.
5: What book is your bible?
My friend Mallory gave me a book about two years ago called Think Positive Thoughts Everyday that she got from a flea market. It sounds cheesy, but I read it every single day to get me started with the day! Other than that, if you call GQ and Glamour Magazine books those are my other bibles. Especially the Glamour Magazine “Hey, It’s OK…” feature every issue! It’s so fun!
6: What are some things you love? And some things you hate?
I love my family and friends more than anything. I have an obsession with Orbitz Bubble Mint Gum, Twizzler Bites, and Diet Dr. Pepper! I also love working out and bringing a snack pack to gym. Everyone always looks at me and is probably thinking “Why is that boy a.) Dancing on the treadmill and b.) Popping twizzler bites and M&M’s in his mouth while running.” I swear it’s actually motivation!
I hate the word hate, but I dislike when people think they are better than others because of their job title, the amount of money in their bank account, or the way they look. That’s not cute in my book.
7: What is your raison d’être?
Keep the faith!
8: What is your favorite color?
My favorite color is fluorescent beige…no just kidding, its lime green!
9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?
Samantha Stephens (Actress Elizabeth Montgomery) from “Bewitched” was a comic figure in the opening credits of the show. So if you consider that a comic, then she’s my favorite! I always wondered what it would be like to be a good witch that can fly!
10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?
Besides my nightly dance parties in 7F (my apartment) I would have to say brunch at Tipsy Parsons as well as the drag shows at Bartini and Industry Bar! The New York City Drag Queens are unbelievable!
11: What turns you on?
12: What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?
Q: Who’s your favorite musician?
A: Hands down, Mariah Carey! That is both old and new school Mimi! She has the best voice in the world and her lyrics are hilarious! She just asked me to be her new manny as well! So that will be a fun gig!
