1: Who Am I?

Veronica Ibarra, 36, Artist.

2: What do you do and what projects are you working on?

I am a photographer and makeup artist living in NYC. I always have many projects going on at once! One thing I’m really excited about is working on a couple of different makeup looks for Rumi Missabu of The Cockettes for his NY February tour. The Cockettes extraordinary performances and way of life have been a great inspiration. Having the opportunity to work with Rumi is very exciting.

3: Where are you from and where are you going?

I’m from Los Angeles. Where am I going? I have no idea, but I’m here now…

4: Who is your biggest hero?

The genius, brilliant and beautiful artist, Avelardo Ibarra who is my brother. He’s a walking encyclopedia…

5: What book is your bible?

Diary of Frida Kahlo by Carlos Fuentes and any or all Dr. Seuss Books.

6: What is something you love? And something you hate?

I love honesty, NY, Los Angeles 1989-1993, my memories, my friends, my family, music, seasons, history books, cats, and whiskey. I hate cockroaches and when my high heels wear down to the metal bit.

7: What is your raison d’etre?

To document and alter existing states.

8: What is your favorite color?


9: Who is your favorite comic book super hero?

Desire, twin of Despair and sister to Dreams, in The Sandman comic book.

10: What is your favorite NY hotspot?

There is a few: Motorcity and Weird / Home Sweet Home on Wednesdays, Bedlam on Sundays where Anna Copa Cabanna bartends and also Todd Brooks has Pendu Disco and Pendu Acid Disco which are great!

11: What turns you on?

Black Sabbath.

12: What would be the last question of this questionnaire if you were the one asking?

I wouldn’t. I would stop at 11 questions. 11 is a good odd number.
