Who Am I ?
An Introduction to LISA PENTANGELO
1: Who am I?
My name is Lisa Pentangelo. I am a Makeup Artist, Esthetician and Stylist. I also make hats and fascinators for photoshoots and weddings.
2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?
We are getting into wedding season so wedding makeup trials are what’s keeping me busy. I am also working on opening my own waxing business by 2012.
3: Where are you from and where are you going?
I am from Amityville, NY. Yes, the site of the Amityville Horror House. Where am I going? Anywhere these little feet will take me.
4: Who is your biggest hero?
My mother. She had taught me many things, but the most important is to work your hardest and always look your best.
5: What book is your bible?
I am really into astrology so my birth chart is what guides me through my life. I feel that it gives you insight into yourself and really sets a guide for how to act and allows you to know what you’re capable of handling and what to watch out for. But for a book I’d say Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palaniuk. It shows that its all Mirror Mirror on the wall, because beauty is power, the way that money is power, the same as a gun is power.
6: What are some things you love? And some things you hate?
Some things I love are bows, big bows and small bows. I feel bows are the most feminine of icons when used in fashion. I feel they give a light feel and when I see them they make me happy. That is why I got a tattoo of a bow behind my ear. To show my love for the feminine form. I also love eyebrows–they are the frame to the face. Without a great brow, a made-up face is not complete.
Some things I hate? Pretentiousness. Nothing is worse than someone believing they are above another. We all bleed red so we all are equal. Another thing that is not so much of a hate but a phobia. I’m deathly phobic of needles. Even seeing one on TV makes me sweat and feel as though I’m going to pass out.
7: What is your raison d’être?
My reason for existence I feel is to make others feel good about themselves. To teach others kindness, to give love and honesty.
8: What is your favorite color?
This question is a hard one. It changes day to day. I have to say I am partial to purples with blues coming in a close second (it’s a Sagittarius color).
9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?
My favorite comic book hero has to be Jean Grey from X-Men. She is such a small girl with such immense power. She shows the power of the feminine force all women have and what you look like does not hinder your power. We are all equally beautiful and graceful.
10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?
I have to say I’m not one for bars or clubs. I’m more of a hole-in-the-wall type of person. So I’d say my favorite restaurant is Permanent Brunch in the East Village.
11: What turns you on?
A guy’s guy. A guy that looks rugged, a scruffy look to him. I like my man to look like a man but with a bit of style. Oh, and clean shoes. I always look at the shoes. Oh, and by the way, I’m taken.
12: What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?
What would you rather have? Breakfast, lunch or dinner? I’d say…dessert.
Lisa Pentangelo is a 5-foot-short, blue-eyed, rainbow hair makeup artist, esthetician and stylist. Born and raised in Amityville, NY. She loves to read weird books and watch movies in subtitles. She enjoys strange art and frequently laugh at horror movies. Lisa gets inspired by walking around the city by herself and by this “crummy patch of land called NYC.” She misses her cat that sadly passed away recently.
