Who Am I ?
JESSICA ALFIERI WRIGHT
1: Who am I?
Born-and-bred city-girl who’s afraid of cows and beholden to pasta. My career has been a mashup of editorial, marketing, internet advertising, “new media”, and business spanning both coasts. I’ve been to culinary school to learn to chop up animals. I’m a former marketing director with a multi-million dollar spend I miss very much, and a current entrepreneuse at the helm of Crude Products, a small-batch cosmetic brand; co-chiefing Ace Department, the place for smart women in business; editing A Very Fine Thing for shopping addicts with taste; and about to release a guide for no-fuss brides.
I’ve been a restaurant hostess, an office drone, an events director, a production designer, a makeup artist, and a faux-baker.
I’m wildly private, which make me tons of fun.
2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?
I run two small businesses, and two side projects on their way to full-fledged business status. I often have my hands in more cookie jars than I have hands.
3: Where are you from and where are you going?
I’m coming from a traditional corporate trajectory and heading toward a much less defined, more fun, and scarier professional life on my own.
4: Who is your biggest hero?
I admire tons of people, famous and not, living and dead, but my hero? The only guy I both know well enough to comment on and to whom the word truly applies, is my husband. I want to steal his brains, emulate his braun, and learn how to love the world like he does.
5: What book is your bible?
6: What are some things you love? And some things you hate?
I love clouds on a sunny day. I hate toast.
7: What is your raison d’être?
Getting better at enjoying the life I have.
8: What is your favorite color?
A mix of bright and calm. Right now I like subtle neons paired with complex greys. Counter to anything else rough and tumble about me, I’m a nail polish fanatic likely to change my fingers thrice weekly.
9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?
Jean Grey/Phoenix, the only woman with dual identities to rival Superman’s (except one of hers isn’t a dweeb).
10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?
I’m a native New Yorker, so there is no single spot. Lately, I’m devoted to ‘Inoteca for it’s uber-delish Three Two Three cocktail.
11: What turns you on?
Boats, biceps, blue eyes.
12: What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?
I like the website The Burning House, so I’d ask that: What would you grab if your house were on fire? While the curated lists are ridiculous–do all those things live together in a glass box, ready to go?–I love the question.
