Who Am I ?

MARY NALLY

May 2011

1: Who am I?

It’s hard to say. My name is dependent on the one calling it. Mary. Mary Nally. Mary LaScary or some –they just call me scary.

2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?

I hook people up and throw parties, mostly. Right now, I’m in the middle of producing an alternative magazine for my hometown. Securing advertising is the current subject of my nightmares. No buzz. Then, later this month, I’m curating a Pop-Up Shop for Re-Dress’  ’Better Fashion Week’ in Dublin, and bringing the Parisian fashion collective Andrea Crews on a mini tour of Ireland to take photos of tattooed tracksuit clad boys on horses and old ladies that knit. Oh, and I am also working on an exhibition that I’ve been tricked into doing, due to open at the end of June.

3: Where are you from and where are you going?

From Galway, on the west coast of Ireland. New York City for the minute. Then to Dublin/Galway for a bit, after that, onto Venice for the art buzz.

4: Who is your biggest hero?

Jesus. Not literally ‘Jesus’, I mean, just ‘Jesus, how will I answer that question?’ Without naming names, the few truly amazing people I know that work hard to make the world a better place for the future generations.

5: What book is your bible?

Prenez Soin de Vous by Sophie Calle.

6: What are some things you love?  And some things you hate?

In short, I love coffee cake and when the seasons change. Also, when the plane touches down, I do love that.I hate to hate, but I hate the word ‘awesome’, the look of sour milk, and I’m not exactly a fan of Michael Douglas.

7: What is your raison d’être?

I’m all for love, baby.

8: What is your favorite color?

The sky when it’s that particular deep blue you see on certain evenings before the dark sets in. That, and the shade of fuchsia that is my lipstick. Fact.

9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?

Random. And… probably Spiderman.

10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?

Oh, this is impossible. It depends on the weather and time of day or night. Let’s say prosecco time of an evening in the garden of Grotto.

11: What turns you on?

New York City and a handsome stranger. Believe.

12: What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?

Q: What are ya havin’?

A: A margarita thanks, salt and rocks.
