Who Am I ?
1: Who am I?
My name is Noémie. Apparently hard to pronounce, I’ve heard it in every possible way in every language and I find it rather amusing. I am a nineteen-year-old photographer.
2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?
I am currently studying photography at Parsons The New School for Design and love it! I also intern for PMC magazine. I am working on my website and various photo-projects. I do not think my work can be categorized into one genre, but it lies somewhere between architectural and abstract photography. I still have so much more to explore!
3: Where are you from and where are you going?
I was born and lived in Nice, France, until I graduated from high school; then took a year off to travel in Israel, Laos, Cambodia, and Latvia. I lived in Paris, Moscow, and Florence. I came to New York in September 2010 to study at Parsons. I am currently spending the summer back home around Cannes and I’m planning to travel and visit friends in Stockholm, Florence, Paris, Barcelona, Latvia, and hopefully Dublin and San Francisco!
I do not want to know where I am going, as long as it involves photography and adventure.
4: Who is your biggest hero?
My mother and father. Family, friends, and people who are not scared of being themselves.
5: What book is your bible?
The French Magazine: Connaissance des Arts–Photo. The odyssey has definitely played a role in my obsession for travels, I think!
6: What are some things you love? And some things you hate?
LOVE: love, family, photography, traveling, swimming, skiing, planes, Nutella, blue, my bed, music, interior design, geometrical lines, having an interesting conversation, meeting new people.
HATE: close-minded people, the word impossible.
7: What is your raison d’être?
Ma raison d’etre c’est l’Amour! Again, photography and discovering new places and cultures. I promised myself I could not die before visiting (and photographing) every single country on this planet–and it’s going pretty well so far!
8: What is your favorite color?
9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?
The adventures of Tintin.
10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?
I’m going to cheat and say wandering around the city, especially downtown. I really am fascinated by the diversity (architecture-wise, but also the people and cultures) within New York city and each neighborhood. I walk a lot every day–mostly thanks to my incredible sense of orientation, so I often end up being totally lost… but I still love it!
11: What turns you on?
Intelligence. Humor. Style. Foreign accents. Blue eyes.
12: What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?
Q: Where was the most memorable place/life-changing experience you have ever had?
A: Ten days on the Amazon river, in Brazil, in 2007.
