Who Am I ?

July 2011

1: Who am I?

Melody Sweets, “The Shimmering Chanteuse of Burlesque”, singer, “Tease Queen”, maneater.

2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?

I sing. I dance. I wear sparkly underpants!

Right now I’m finishing up my debut album which will be released this fall. It’s a collection of songs I’ve written to take my clothes off to… hopefully you’ll do the same.

3: Where are you from and where are you going?

I grew up in and out of foster homes on the east and west coasts and found myself living in New York City for the last ten years. I’m currently living in Las Vegas singing and performing to a couple of songs off my upcoming debut album, in a make-your-jaw-drop kinda show called ABSINTHE at Caesars Palace through the summer, but my heart lies in New York City!

Where am I going? Wherever the wind blows me…with a little guidance from my invisible wings, of course.

4: Who is your biggest hero?

My grandmother. She’s one tough and inspiring lady.

5: What book is your bible?

Women and Money.  Women, read it.

6: What are some things you love?  And some things you hate?

I love food, sex, and travel. I hate hate.

7: What is your raison d’être?

It’s simple, really;my mom and dad had sex some years back…and, voila! Here I am!

8: What is your favorite color?

9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?

It’s a tie between Wonder Woman and Spiderman.

10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?

A secret little place called Angel’s Share… but, let’s keep this between you & me.

11: What turns you on?

Intelligence. And I won’t lie; a great physique and gorgeous face doesn’t hurt either.

12: What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?

Q: If you could have one super human power, what would it be?

Melody is the first performer in the history of burlesque to have produced, written, and starred in her own music video for her new song, Slice of Heaven.

She’s had music featured on MTV, VH1, A&E, National Geographic, and on shows such as Celebrity Fit Club and PUNK’D.

A lover of the arts, Melody has had the honor of performing for and collaborating with such acclaimed artists as STING, Alice Cooper, The Bravery, Marc Jacobs, Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas & Harvey Keitel, and is featured in numerous books including renowned photographer & author Henry Horenstein’s new book titled SHOW.

She’s graced the pages of countless magazines and publications including the cover of the Sunday Styles in THE NEW YORK TIMES, NEW YORK MAGAZINE, VILLAGE VOICE, BLACKBOOK MAGAZINE, THE DAILY NEWS, and a tw0-page spread (no pun intended) in PENTHOUSE FORUM. You can see her on the hit television show GOSSIP GIRL or hear her sing as she’s immortalized in the top-selling video game of all time GRAND THEFT AUTO 4.

You may now see Melody up close, anywhere across America, at any time, by visiting her portrait in museums nationwide, including the Harvard Art Museum and the Smithsonian Museum of American History, Washington, DC.
