1: Who am I?

I’m a Brooklyn girl with the world in my pocket.

2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?

I’ve just finished a record with my new project Melody Kills. I don’t know what to compare it to when people ask. I think if you like songs, you might like us.

3: Where are you from and where are you going?

I’m from the middle and I’m working my way towards the top.

4: Who is your biggest hero?

Patti Smith.

5: What book is your bible?

I love reading biographies. I just finished Levon Helm’s autobiography This Wheel’s on Fire: Levon Helm and the Story of the Band and I couldn’t stop reading it. If you’re a fan of the band, I highly recommend it! Other than that, the Bible.

6: What are some things you love? And some things you hate?

I love Rock N’ Roll.
I love my first coffee of the day.
I love a good haircut.

I hate being woken up by construction.
I hate delayed flights.
I hate flossing.

7: What is your raison d’être?

I’m still trying to figure that out. Is that French? I would love to travel all over the world, learn 3 languages and eventually become selfless and help those in need.

8: What is your favorite color?

Depends what time it is…I do like shades of the green family.

9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?

I don’t read comic books much…but Woody Allen would by my comic hero. Besides that, how about Emma Peel from The Avengers!

10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?

Variety Coffee in Williamsburg. Best hot cappuccino in NYC!

11: What turns you on?

Good food, good music and Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation.

12: What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?

Want to grab a drink after this?

Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Leslie Mendelson began making waves in 2005, when the homespun debut album Take It As You Will expanded her fanbase beyond her adopted New York City.

One newfound fan was Joel Dorn, the legendary Grammy award-winning producer and record label exec, who helped Mendelson ink a contract with Rykodisc Records.

The young singer then focused on a new batch of material, working alonside hit songwriter Steve McEvan (Keith Urban, Faith Hill, Enimem) and award-winning producer/arranger Rob Mounsey (Paul Simon, Mary J. Blige, Steely Dan) to shape the sound of her sophomore album, Swan Feathers, which was nominated for a Grammy® Award in 2009.

Over the past 3 years, she has played Hotel Cafe to Lincoln Center and has shared the stage with legends such as Roberta Flack, Dr. John, and Levon Helm from The Band.

Her latest project Melody Kills reunites her with co-writer/producer Steve McEwan.
