Who Am I ?

KRISTIN HILTON

September 2011

1: Who am I?

Silly yet serious, never bored, curious.

2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?

I am a make-up artist working with fashion and advertising shoots. My projects are changing on a day to day basis. I consider myself very lucky to have a job which shifts daily. It never gets boring–each day, a new team, which means new stories and experiences. My mom was a make-up artist when I was growing up so its something that I’ve always wanted to do.

3: Where are you from and where are you going?

I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, then lived in Germany, Los Angeles, and now New York for the past five years. Where am I going? To the moon.

4: Who is your biggest hero?

I would have to say my mom. My mom took care of me and my sister while working full time. I have to admit I was needy and sometimes a pain in the ass, but she always seemed to do it all.

5: What book is your bible?

My favorite book is Just Kids by Patti Smith, but a book that guides my life would be Freedom From the Known by Krishnamurti.

6: What are some things you love? And some things you hate?

I love my friends and family, living in New York, my job, music, art, film, my life, NY in the 1970′s, and how I wish I could’ve seen it. Hate? Closed minds, people without a sense of adventure, the sound of metal against metal (although I like the music). I hate living in NY come March when I am ready for spring and it just doesn’t seem anywhere in sight.

7: What is your raison d’être?

I think we are all searching for this answer. I hope I am here to make some significant impact. I am not sure in what direction that may be yet, but I would love to make an impact on the environment in some way.

8: What is your favorite color?

If you were to ask me today I would say lobster red, although you might not see me wearing it, other than as a shade of lipstick.

9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?

I don’t have one.

10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?

I try to stay away from “hot spots” and places with velvet ropes. I prefer dinner parties and seeing bands at small local venues.

11: What turns you on?

Friends, progressive ideas, dynamic people, and awareness.

12: What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?

If you were to die, what would your last meal be?
