You Know Me !
1. How do we know you?
2. What is your latest project?
At ELLE: we’re working on our gigantic holiday gift guide. Outside of ELLE: this summer, I’m shooting a bunch of freelance shoots, I’m working on a big project with Olivia Palermo, I’m collaborating with a couple of accessories designers and I’m launching my own website www.kyleeditor.com. I went to Berlin and Stockholm fashion weeks, then gearing up for NY and Milan!
3. Where are you living?
I live in Times Square at 42nd and 9th, in a building that recently opened called the MIMA–which is amazing. I live on the 31st floor with views of Times Square, it has an indoor private Equinox with pool, game room, indoor private movie theater, roof decks, roof top movie theater screen…etc. You’re all invited to come over–if your hot.
4. What don’t we know about you?
That I can speak Korean? I lived in Korea for about two and a half years. I had a double major in business and finance. I studied in Korea as my study abroad to sort of spice up the business major a bit.
5. What is your favorite travel destination?
I love Berlin for clubbing. I’ve seen the craziest things ever in my life at clubs there and Tokyo for shopping–by far the best…
6. What inspires you?
Fashion-wise it would be street style that I see when I’m traveling. I love Tokyo and Stockholm for their style. I think Stockholm is actually the new Tokyo for looking for trends.
7. If not yourself, who would you be?
8. What book is your bible?
9. What is your favorite word?
Probably ‘MAJOR’. Or ‘sexy’.
10. Who is your biggest hero?
Two people. Nina Garcia for hiring me at ELLE six years ago and always believing in me. She was the biggest influence in my life. She has an amazing work ethic, passion for finding great things, and a love of accessories. Also my boyfriend for always supporting me for the past eight years that we have been together.
11. How would you define success?
For me, there are a lot of different kinds of success. Recently someone asked me if I could have anything, what would I want. And for the first time in a long time it had nothing to do with material things. I think I’m lucky. I have everything anyone could ever want in terms of material things. Maybe that feels successful.
12. What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?
This is the first interview I’ve given where I wasn’t asked about the trends of the season! Hmm…maybe: “Where do you see yourself in the future?”
I think I’m interested in a lot more than just fashion or just accessories. I’m interested in the big picture. I’d love to be a creative director for a magazine like ELLE. I’m interested in beauty products, models, cover shoots, fonts, layouts, I’m interested in every aspect of the magazine more than just what earrings the girls wear. I’d like to be a creative director and really give a magazine an overall cool look. The way girls want to dress and want to look and want to feel. Well, for girls who wanna look cool and sexy, anyway…
