Who Am I ?
1: Who am I?
I’m a Food Maven. Adventure is my passion and food my passport. I believe that food is culture and culture is food, and that we can change the way we live through attention to what’s on our plates. That said, I’m not above cheese fries, but life is too short to eat Velveeta.
2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?
I’m a chef and food writer specializing in comfort-chic cuisine that combines girl-next-door recipes with gourmet ingredients. Along with my best friend Erin, I own The Dinner Belle boutique catering company and write the eponymous blog www.kimberlybelle.com. We custom fit every menu we write and all aspects of event design to personalize our clients’ experience and cater to individuals with tailored tastes.
3: Where are you from and where are you going?
I come from the land of processed food doldrums, a.k.a. the suburbs, but I’ve cultivated a taste for more. New York City is my food-forward playground, but I’m expanding to Boston and bringing my flair for real foods with me.
#4: Who is your biggest hero?
5: What book is your bible?
Greenmarket by Pamela Thomas. A simple little book I refer to again and again as my seasonal guide to the NYC farmers’ markets.
6: What are some things you love? And some things you hate?
Love = cheese, chocolate, chilies, and Mr. Mixologist. Hate = a bad attitude, a bad dining experience, a bad date, and last call.
7: What is your raison d’être?
By trade and by obsession, I am an experience maker. I live for those moments when we gather ‘round the table of a home cooked meal, raise a glass, and make a memory.
8: What is your favorite color?
‘Public Pool’. It’s that shade of blue-green aquamarine you’ve seen painted onto a plethora of public pools.
9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?
Comic books are for kids.
10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?
11: What turns you on?
Love. Conversation. Oysters.
12: What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?
Having previously taught as a tenure-track writing professor, Kimberly Belle is a freelance food writer and the Co-Owner/Executive Chef of The Dinner Belle boutique catering company.
