Shen Wei Dance Arts costumes for the Park Avenue Armory performances at the end of November, plus dressing my Neapolitan Presepe figures for Christmas.

Downtown.

4: What don’t we know about you?

I’m really very shy.

5: What is your favorite travel destination?

Capri.

6: What inspires you?

The sun, the moon, the stars…

7: If not yourself, who would you be?

Sissi, Empress Elisabeth of Austria.

8: What book is your bible?

Godey’s Lady’s Book; 1866 Edition.

9: What is your favorite word?

Gala.

10: Who is your biggest hero?

Mad Master Couturier of the Chelsea Hotel, Charles James.

11: How would you define success?

Creating beauty that fulfills one as an artist, while at the same time, gives joy to others.

What is the true value of fashion to the world?

Austin Scarlett is a designer whose work spans the realms of theatre, fashion, and pop culture. Aside from his couture gowns, Scarlett is probably most popularly known for his designs and appearances on television programs Project Runway and On the Road with Austin and Santino, and the upcoming Project Runway All-Stars.

Austin’s life long love for theatrical performance has led him to costume design for Shen Wei Dance Arts, David Parson‚Äôs Dance ,The Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, and Greenwich Music Festival among others.

Austin lives in New York City.
