Who Am I ?
1: Who am I?
A ball of energy, a bit sarcastic, definitely a risk-taker, and someone who never stops asking questions, which usually puts me on the other side of this conversation and sometimes annoys people, I’ll be honest!
2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?
I am a business woman, entrepreneur, and television personality. Although my colleagues made me a flattering business card that says, CEO, Visionary, and Guide; very sweet of them!
My production company, Handbook Productions is currently working on establishing/building the U.S. version of the UK’s #1 property/travel series, A Place In The Sun, here in the US. I currently executive produce and host A Place In The Sun on Discovery’s new Velocity channel and I’m working on expanding my real estate companies internationally.
3: Where are you from and where are you going?
Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, San Dimas to be exact. Yes, that is where Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure took place. Don’t judge me. I’m heading around the world, again, for second season of A Place In The Sun, if you want me to answer that question literally.
4: Who is your biggest hero?
My mom. She is unlike anyone I have ever met before (I promise I’m not being biased). She is genuinely interested in other people’s lives , their stories, their purpose. She is a counselor, but she’s everyone’s life coach she encounters and the best person to have at a cocktail or dinner party. I learn so much from her daily!
5: What book is your bible?
I don’t have one book per say, but I really enjoy books on metaphysics and personal achievement, because I think they go hand in hand. Brian Tracy, Napoleon Hill and Ernest Holmes are some of my favorite authors. I also carry my good friend Holly Mosier’s book on the road with me, Stress Less, Weigh Less; she is my go to person for living a balanced, healthy lifestyle. I want to be her when I grow up!
6: What are some things you love? And some things you hate?
What I love: long walks on the beach, puppies, and rainbows–kidding! In all seriousness, I actually live at the beach and I do love all those things, but even more than that I love life and feel so blessed to be able to wake up every morning living my dream.
What I hate: I hate haters–don’t people have anything better to do with their time than “hate”? And please don’t lie to me. I hate that, waste of my time AND yours.
7: What is your raison d’être?
Should I be embarrassed that I had to Wiki this? I now know it means “reason for existence,” thank you! Onto my answer. Right now, I hope it’s to make a difference, create some better programming than the crap currently on television and to live anything but an aimless life.
8: What is your favorite color?
9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?
I don’t have one but I’d like to make one up, is that possible? I think there should be a comic book hero that actually teaches kids to use strengths they already have. Like a Super Teenage Mutant Ninja Oprah or a Lady Gaga full of life lessons. No? Ok, this is definitely not my business.
10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?
I wish I was cool enough to have an NYC hot spot, but unfortunately all I do when I come to NY is work. Eat, sleep, work–that’s my life right now. But I’m willing to take suggestions and venture out sometime, anyone?
11: What turns you on?
Are we talking men or life? How about we start with the first? Intelligence, passion, confidence (not to be confused with cockiness, which I’ve learned is the opposite), honesty, and a nice back side doesn’t hurt either. Oh, and someone who laughs at my jokes (is that too much to ask for)?
In life: Being around energetic people who are doing what they love to do, anything that has to do with Latin dance, and the smell of freshly baked cookies.
12: What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?
What’s the one thing you want to accomplish?
Danielle Rob is the Executive Producer and host of A Place in the Sun, an eclectic reality series based on the adventure of finding a home abroad airing on Discovery’s Velocity network–giving us a new spin on the #1 property show in the world. The show is dedicated to empowering others to transcend boundaries in their own lives by discovering a greater world of possibilities. Each episode involves a customized property search for a client or couple and reveals the actual challenges, conflicts and often unpredictable conclusions of my quest to match the clients criteria to the realities of relocation abroad.
Robb is also a real estate investor and CEO of her own brokerage and development company, Bella D. While on a business trip to London in 2008, she discovered the UK phenomenon, A Place in the Sun, and set up a meeting with its creators. She founded Handbook Productions in 2008 during a programming era saturated with contrived “reality” programming that pushed the envelope with cat fights and train wrecks. Her company seeks to establish a niche identified by a higher standard than much of what is currently filling the marketplace.
