Who Am I ?
1: Who am I?
My name is LeDor Golightly and I am a photographer.
2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?
I work with a team of my closest friends. This gives me the ability to shoot night and day, whenever inspiration should strike. I recently finished a series titled Born This Way, based on Lady Gaga’s album. My next goal is to reach a larger audience for my photography.
3: Where are you from and where are you going?
I am from a small town of almost 5,000 people near Ottawa, Canada. The island I grew up on was called Long Island, which I always took as a sign that I would one day live in New York City. I will one day live in NYC and travel the world.
4: Who is your biggest hero?
David LaChapelle; without him and his compelling work, I wouldn’t be a photographer today.
5: What book is your bible?
I assume I am supposed to name a novel, which I could as I have a deep love of books. Fantasy would have to be my favorite genre. Instead I will say David LaChapelle’s Heaven to Hell. I have spent countless hours absorbed in the pages of his books. As well as David LaChapelle’s Artists and Prostitutes and Helmut Newton’s SUMO, though I haven’t actually seen either.
6: What are some things you love? And some things you hate?
I love glamour, empowerment, friends and parties, photoshoots, a night in, looking through books by my favorite photographers on the floor of the bookstore, and putting my books on the shelves beside my heroes. I hate judgment based on anything other than quality of character.
7: What is your raison d’être?
To make art, at an almost obsessive level, and love my families. Hopefully help the world learn to love each other and our own selves for our differences.
8: What is your favorite color?
9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?
I’ve honestly never been much a comic book person, but I love Mystique from X-Men. She may technically be a villain, but I have always had a soft spot for villains.
10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?
I could lie and pretend to know New York well enough to have a favorite hot spot, but unfortunately I’m not there yet. I would say wherever the people are friendly, fashionable, and filthy.
11: What turns you on?
Really, really superb styling in a photograph. Styling and clothes that also tell a story.
12: What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?
Who is your favorite Spice Girl?
LeDor Golightly is a photographer currently based in Toronto. LeDor works closely in a group with her closest friends and family. After graduating from college they hopped on a bus to Toronto in search of art and inspiration. Over two years, LeDor has built a portfolio that is overflowing with colorful, sexy, and somewhat taboo photographs. They may seem like a photoshop dream world to the viewer, but to LeDor they are exactly what is seen when inspiration strikes. So to LeDor, they are in a way real. The photographs often play with themes of sex, anger, and vanity. LeDor does not discuss these subjects with the aim to offend the viewer. It is done in an attempt to change the way people perceive sex, anger, and vanity. After recently completing the photographic interpretation of Born This Way, LeDor now wants to reach a larger audience for the work. Toronto is not the end goal for LeDor and the group; they hope to reach New York City together within the next year. LeDor cannot wait for the inspiration and excitement New York and its people will breathe into the group and their work.
