THE BEST DRESSED AT THE GOLDEN GLOBES

Gold Worthy Red Carpet Fashion at the 69th Annual Golden Globes

Written by Eden Herbstman

January 2012

Forget Ricky Gervaise, the red carpet fashion was enough entertainment at the 69th annual Golden Globes. The A-listers did not disappoint with their red carpet choices, and all were worthy fashion winners. The biggest trend of the night was blush tones, where many stars chose the soft palette as their color choice for gowns. Charlize Theron had a complete princess moment in her Dior Haute Couture gown. To give her princess persona a little more edge, the gown had a plunging neckline and a thigh high slit with an oversized bow wrapping around her waist. Her diamond headband was the perfect finishing touch, and a modern twist on the classic tiara. Theron wasn’t the only one on the red carpet showing off a headpiece, Michelle Williams paired her velvet Jason Wu dress with a black headband. Kate Beckinsale looked elegant in her figure-hugging Roberto Cavalli strapless gown with delicate beaded embellishment. Emma Stone, who has proved to be one of the most daring stars this red carpet season, set herself apart wearing a unique two-toned berry Lanvin gown, paired with a decorated eagle belt. The deep fuschia tones in her gown paired perfectly with her milky skin tone. Jessica Alba looked breathtaking in a lavender Gucci gown. The strapless dress was covered in gold beads, creating a sparkly look without being over the top. Her golden skin tone against the soft lavender was a perfect color choice. The white and black combo is still proving to be a major trend for the red carpet season, and Golden Globe winner Clare Danes took the trend to another level in her backless monochromatic J Mendel gown. Her red lip was a perfect choice against the white and black of the gown.

Supermodel Elle Macpherson also opted for a blush color gown. Macpherson showed off her statuesque model figure in a Zac Posen strapless corseted gown with layers and layers of a tulle underskirt train. The 47-year-old who was a presenter at the Globes added color to her ensemble with an array of colored diamond bracelets. Another supermodel to grace the carpet was Heidi Klum, who paired her blush silk Calvin Klein gown with turqoise Lorraine Schwartz accessories. Heidi, like Clare Danes, also worked the backless gown. Both supermodels incorporated color to bring out the soft tone in their gowns. George Clooney’s latest squeeze Stacey Keibler kept it simple and classy in a red Valentino number, with a gorgeous bow in the back. Since she was at the Globes to  accompany her leading man, who won the Golden Globe for lead actor in a drama, she stood out while keeping it low key. Shailene Woodley, who played Clooney’s daughter in The Descendants, dazzled in a strapless Marchesa column dress. The young starlet looked whimsical and fresh, and kept her high in a high bun.
