Who Am I ?
1: Who am I?
I am a daughter, a sister, a jewelry designer, and an artist.
2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?
I work for a large company during the day designing jewelry, and I work on my own small jewelry collection, Bosquez Jewelry, in my private time. My current projects include working on my new jewelry collection and website; this is a never ending process. I keep a blog of images that I update almost daily, as it is a way to keep track of what inspires me. I am also cultivating various succulent plants in my living room.
3: Where are you from and where are you going?
I was born and raised in a tiny Texas town along the Gulf Coast of Mexico, Robstown. I grew up surrounded by cotton fields, refineries, railroads, and the ocean. I would like to think that I am heading towards being a fully independent artist/jewelry designer who lives by the sea.
4: Who is your biggest hero?
It is hard to name one- my heroes are women who defy the norm–Frida Kahlo, Patti Smith, Marie Currie, Sonia Sotomayor, and my mom are a few.
5: What book is your bible?
The book that has been most inspiring to me most recently has been Just Kids by Patti Smith. The love story between her and Robert Mapplethorpe is so beautiful and unconventional.
6: What are some things you love? And some things you hate?
I love summer, swimming, and drinking hot tea. I really hate it when people say they got too much sleep; it’s like saying you have too much money.
7: What is your raison d’être?
I don’t believe I have determined this yet.
8: What is your favorite color?
I love the color of faded black jeans.
9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?
I have never really read comic books- my current music/fashion superhero is Alison Mosshart of The Kills.
10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?
I am not much for “hot spots” in general. I currently live in Dallas and I think the best nights involve impromptu dance parties and live music.
11: What turns you on?
12: What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?
What is your favorite movie? I believe my favorite movie is The NeverEnding Story. This movie made such an impression on me as a young child- I still love the idea of a parallel world, a child warrior, and a flying dog-like creature.
Marisa Bosquez was born and raised in a tiny Texas town alongside the Gulf Coast of Mexico. The slow pace of the forgotten cotton-picking town left much time to daydream about far off places and imaginary lives. Marisa found refuge in books and make-believe; she always knew she wanted to be an artist of some sort. After what seemed like forever, Marisa made her way to New York City and studied fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. After some time in New York, she found herself back in Texas. Marisa discovered her love of jewelry while working under fine jeweler Nak Armstrong. In 2009, Bosquez Jewelry was realized. Bosquez jewelry seeks to create jewelry that is effortless, thoughtful and sensual. Marisa currently resides in Dallas, Texas.
