1: Who am I?

Miri Ben-Ari.

2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?

I am a violinist and a producer, currently working on my next album.

3: Where are you from and where are you going?

I was born and raised in Israel. I moved to America to pursue my music dream, and I am still following my dreams.

4: Who is your biggest hero?

My mother; she gave me the tools to grow as a person and unconditional love.

5: What book is your bible?

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. I believe that we can be free of our egoic mind if we can become conscious of the present moment–the “now”.

6: What are some things you love? And some things you hate?

I love my family, friends, music, yoga, kids, and dogs.

I hate when people fight and argue.

7: What is your raison d’être?

To love and to be loved.

8: What is your favorite color?

No favorite. It depends on the day.

9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?

When I was little I used to be fascinated by Superman.

10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?

I like to walk around the Chelsea art galleries and then sit outside at Don Giovanni.

11: What turns you on?

Intellectual conversation and good music.

Miri Ben-Ari, a classically trained, Grammy Award–winning violinist, originally from Israel, has created her own unique sound through a revolutionary fusion of classical style with jazz, R&B, and hip-hop. She is an “Apollo Legend”, also known as “The Hip Hop Violinist”. She has worked with artists such as Kanye West, Jay Z, Wyclef Jean, Alicia Keys, Akon, Donna Summer, Janet Jackson, and Aventura, among others. She is the CEO and co-founder of the non-profit organization Gedenk (“Remember”), the first Israeli to receive the Martin Luther King Award from Israeli President Shimon Peres and was honored at the White House by First Lady, Michelle Obama, as a 2011 “Remarkable Woman.”
