Who Am I ?

March 2012

1: Who am I?

I am a crazy, sexy, cool, passion-for-fashion, Brooklyn-based, handmade, fairy-tale-couture rock designer! I do all the sketching, patterns, sourcing of fabrics, trims and notions, cutting and sewing, and I hold all my fashion shows in Manhattan. I run, operate, and do all the organizing of my own fashion shows (about every three to four months) and photoshoots along with Candy Rock Couture.

2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?

I just finished a fitting last night with an upcoming singer who is renting my garments for a shoot on Tuesday. I’m also preparing for a shoot that I’m having this Saturday at “That Limelight” as well. I’ve been sewing like a spider lately because–besides preparing for my spring/summer collection–I’m doing a shoot for a California-based magazine called Glam-Rock Magazine the last week of March. Then around the second weekend in April, I’ll be having my fashion show: “Lace, Spikes, and Everything Nice!”

3: Where are you from and where are you going?

I am from Brooklyn. Although I am handmade/couture, on New Year’s of 2012, I said “This year is my year and I am going to be in magazines and boutiques and clothing stores!” And that is where I am going! I believe if you believe in something and trust in God and strive for it and speak it into existence, it will happen!

Also in the works, I’m soon to have my own channel. Besides that, I am now adding hats to my line! They are really cool and funky with spikes, studs, netting, black pearls, little skulls, etc. Everything you get from “Candy-Rock Couture” is truly one-of-a-kind and unique because it’s hand made and I only make one of it’s kind. Once it’s sold, that’s it! I never make another! I make similar pieces but never the same one twice! That goes for clothes, hats, thigh-highs.

4: Who is your biggest hero?

My biggest hero is my mom! She taught me at a young age not to care what others think of me and to be myself. She also taught me never to give up, and that I can be and do whatever I want in life and to eliminate the word “can’t” from my vocabulary. Those are things that have helped me greatly in life and things I can pass down to my future kids!

5: What book is your bible?

Besides the real Bible, my fashion bible is W Magazine, Teen Vogue (don’t laugh), Italia Vogue, Glamour Magazine, Elle Collections, PMc Magazine.

6: What are some things you love? And some things you hate?

Some things I love are anything hot pink; anything hot pink just makes me happy! Glitter also makes me happy. And I love fashion, warm weather, traveling, coffee, staying fit, fun activities, all forms of the arts, being active, movies, restaurants, music, drama-free models! I hate drama!

7: What is your raison d’être?

My raison d’être is to cater to those who look for a unique edge in their image.

8: What is your favorite color?

My favorite color is hot pink, until I die!

9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?

My favorite comic book super hero is Catwoman. Just because I love her sexy style and costume.

10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?

My favorite NYC hot spot is Vapiano’s Pizza Bar. It’s in Union Square. It’s this amazingly cool, dimly lit pizza lounge that plays ultra-cool music. It’s such a nice spot and it has such glorious art all on the walls. It’s a classy, cool, mellow, romantic spot, and it’s where my man and I not only frequent, but where we had our very first date!

11: What turns you on?

What turns me on is hot pink and watching my fashion show videos!

12: What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?

Would you hire me to work for you at PMc Magazine and when do I start?

“Candy-Rock Couture” was made for gals in the rock-n-roll industry or for those of us who just wish we were! Mixed with assertive patterns, bright colors, and token punk staples such as leopard prints, hot pink and black, with ribbons and bows, lace and ruffles, zippers, chains and studs, it creates a unique fashion statement in the street fashion scene. Inspired by candy, rock, rap, color, New York street, love, the 80′s and underground style, the garments are youthful but sexy, unique, urban, quirky, witty, and above all, fun! “Candy-Rock Couture” is for people who don’t just know trends, they set them!
