Who Am I ?
1: Who am I?
I am the 99 percent. Okay, bad intro.
My name is Eva Natal, and I am the ultimate dreamer. I am a freelance model, fashion enthusiast, musician, and part time bartender. I also make a mean latte.
2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?
I consider myself a creativist. All of my endeavors are surrounded by my love to create, perform, model, experiment, collaborate, involve myself in music, develop my aesthetic, and stay sane. It is all one big life-long, visually-fueled process in which my sole mission is to survive NYC and stay afloat amidst the hipsters, socialites, yuppies, and tranny hookers of this corporate cement jungle.
I’ve go-go danced, I’ve done burlesque, I’ve busted my ass waiting tables for hours on end. I’ve dealt with bed bugs and unruly landlords. I’ve performed original music to an audience of one person! Quite often I live paycheck to paycheck. I am living the life so many other 20-somethings come to NYC to do and I hope to be a voice for those people. even if it’s just for this interview. Sometimes it can be a struggle but, I honestly wouldn’t change one damn thing. It keeps me creative and on my toes! My experiences make me more fearless with each passing day, and even more prepared for what’s to come, which I know will be great.
3: Where are you from and where are you going?
I was born in Manhattan then moved to the suburbs out on Long Island when I was six, which might as well have been Nantucket. My heart has always been with NYC. I moved back as quickly as I could when I turned 18. Ideally, I’d love to travel the world touring with a band. I also would love to live in Spain for a while until I perfect my Spanish.
4: Who is your biggest hero?
My Aunt Gladys, which is also my middle name. She took me in when I was six after already raising two kids of her own and did it all over again. Talk about sacrifice!
5: What book is your bible?
Narcissus and Goldmund by Hermann Hesse. I’ve never been so strongly drawn to or had such a visceral response to a writer’s work before.
6: What are some things you love? And some things you hate?
Love: creating, duality, music, modeling, compassion, coffee, sour straws, art, fashion, music, BBC America, whiskey, wine, ice cream, kindness, home cooked meals, friendship. The list goes on!
Hate: People who are mean for no reason and Uggs. Yeah, that’s about it.
7: What is your raison d’être?
To be creative in life and love with an open heart.
8: What is your favorite color?
Currently I’m obsessed with bright neons or pastels on black.
9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?
Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?
Don Pedros in Brooklyn. It is not for the weak of heart. You know it’s a good night when you feel the need to cleanse yourself afterwards, both literally and metaphorically speaking. At least that’s my idea of a good night…
11: What turns you on?
Creation. Confidence. Genuineness. Good art. Good music. Fierce fashion.
12: What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?
Where do you want to be five years from now?
Eva Natal is a freelance model, fashion enthusiast, musician, living in New York City.
