Who Am I ?

Winter 2012-2013

1: Who am I?

Dan Millice.

2: What do you do and what project are you currently working on?

I’m an audio mastering engineer at Engine Room Audio in NYC.  I’m currently working on a lot of projects such as mastering the new Bilal Karaman album out of Istanbul and the new Junior Astronomers’ album out of Charlotte, NC. I also recently worked on a Trey Songz track called “Heart Attack” which just received a Grammy Nomination for Best R&B Song.

3: Where are you from and where are you going?

I’m from Charlotte, North Carolina and I’m going to the Grammy’s.

4: Who is your biggest hero?

I think it is a tie between my mother, my father, and my brother Aaron (who always gives me a ride home).

5: What book is your bible?

The Art of War by Sun Tzu and The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.

6: What are some things you love? And some things you hate?

I love the Atlanta Braves, Appalachian State football, mastering, the Wizard of Oz, Fender guitars, beer, apple pie, vinyl records, and The Godfather films. I hate racism, posers, and MP3s.

7: What is your raison d’être?

Making records and helping bands find their sound – then helping them capture that sound.

8: What is your favorite color?

Black and Gold. Go Appalachian State Mountaineers!

9: Who is your favorite comic book superhero?

I really like Colossus from X-Men, but my all time favorite superhero has to be Batman. I love that he had no special powers but that he ended up being one of the most powerful superheroes of all time.

10: What is your favorite NYC hot spot?

I live in Brooklyn, so I’d have to say Noorman’s Kil on Grand St.–whiskey, grilled cheese, and whiskey.  Need I say more?

11: What turns you on?

A well recorded drum set, Juan Alderete’s bass tone, and Aerosmith’s fourth album, Rocks.

12: What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?

What would be your dream album to work on? Jimi Hendrix Are You Experienced.
