NYFW DAY SEVEN
A Look at Day Seven of NYFW
By Eden Herbstman
Day Seven proved to be all about time travel for designers Anna Sui, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa, and Michael Kors. Anna Sui brought us back to the 60’s with her vibrant and print heavy collection. Knee high socks were paired with mod baby doll style dresses, and high ponytails with cat eye makeup kept the models looking young and fresh. While Anna Sui was reliving the swinging 60’s, Marchesa took us even further back in time, showing an elegant collection of Victorian inspired gowns, perfect for any red carpet look. Embellished corset tops lead into satin gowns, while over sized sleeves were the perfect pairing for tailored pants. Utilizing burgundy and pinks to soften to dramatic structure of the gowns, the collection as a whole was feminine and classic Marchesa.
Michael Kors took us to the future and beyond with his collection. Black and white heavily tinted aviator likes sunglasses were paired with bright oranges, blues, and yellows. It was sportswear gone chic, and in the world of Michael Kors peplum tops and mesh skirts are supposed to be worn for any on the go woman in NYC. The bright colors transitioned to a camo motif of skirts and over sized coats lead into a grays and blacks. For the final looks the designer put his own spin on the classic little black dress adding his blue, orange, and yellow trains created a color block effect. Who better than Karlie Kloss to close the show in the stunning finale dress, consisting of color reflecting stones with a black peplum train.
