By Shane Boyle

Winter 2012-2013

1. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Like Django Unchained and Lincoln, but with better politics.

2. Beasts of the Southern Wild

“The Bathtub has more holidays than the whole rest of the world.”

3. Holy Motors

“Weird, weird. He’s so weird.”

4. Killing Them Softly

“America’s not a country, it’s a business. Now fucking pay me.”

5. Amour

Actually not the most excruciating film called “Love” directed by an Austrian this year.

6. Liebe

Made Amour look like a rom-com.

7. The Queen of Versailles

“If you loved me, you’d turn off the lights.”

8. The Master

“The only way to defend ourselves is to attack.”

9. Hunger Games

“Commencing at sunrise, there will be a feast tomorrow at the Cornucopia.”

10. Cosmopolis

“This is a protest against the future. They want to hold off the future.”
