Who Am I ?
1. Who am I?
Praq Rado, 32 years old. I”m an actor/producer/writer.
2. What do you do and what project are you currently working on?
I”m currently working on two projects.
One is called Dreaming American, written and directed by Lee Percy. I was very nervous at first, knowing that Lee Percy has worked with top movie stars, such as Meryl Streep, Glenn Close, Jeremy Irons, Angelina Jolie, Hillary Swank, and many more. He has seen the best and the worst. But he was very humble and down to earth and made me feel comfortable. I remember the first day on set of Dreaming American when he called “action,” and I started crying when everyone was waiting for me to deliver the line. They were all confused, looking at each other and saying, “This is not what rehearsal is supposed to be like.” I couldn”t believe any of this was happening to me: working with Lee Percy, an Emmy Award-winner, and world-renowned director-producer Barbet Schroeder, in a film featuring widely-admired actor Giancarlo Esposito. And the film was based on my life!
I”m also working on a short film I”m writing and co-staring in. It”s called Accept Me the Way I Am.
3. Where are you from and where are you going?
From Albania. I live in NYC and LA.
4. Who is your biggest hero?
I would have to say my parents are my biggest heroes, and now they are my guiding angels. They both passed away four years ago. My dad had a heart attach and my mom had a stroke, I miss them every day, and I work very hard to make them proud.
5. What book is your bible?
English is my second language. I have only recently begun to read American literature. I hope to have a good answer to this question soon.
6. What are some things you love? And some things you hate?
I love making people feel good about themselves, helping poor people and elderly people, being creative. Things that I hate the most would include people being negative about everything. I don”t do well with that.
7. What is your raison dӐtre?
I left Albania when I was 16 years old to find a better life and help support my family. All by myself, I immigrated to different countries searching for peace and home. I want to inspire young kids around the world.
8. What is your favorite color?
My favorite color would be blue or gray, because they look good on me and bring out my eye color. I also prefer black because it matches everything.
9. Who is your favorite comic book superhero?
Batman, the Dark Knight.
10. What is your favorite NYC hot spot?
I would have to say Tribeca Performing Arts Center. I used to attend the Tribeca Film Festival and hoped one day my work would be showcased there. My dreams came true: Dreaming American was invited through CUNY and BMCC students for a special screening November 6th, before an audience of over 400 people. People can see Dreaming American on the Internet at indieflix.com and shortstv.com.
11. What turns you on?
People who know what they want and go after it.
12. What would the last question of this questionnaire be if you were the one asking?
What will you do in the future?
I hope some day to write a memoir that can inspire other young kids to achieve their dreams
