Patrick McMullan is an American photographer, columnist, television personality, businessman and documentarian. He was born in New York and raised in Huntington, Long Island. Educated at New York University, McMullan majored in business and “minored in Studio 54.” The premiere nightlife photographer in New York City, McMullan’s work seems infinitely pervasive. It appears regularly in his weekly New York Magazine column, “Party Lines.” His other columns include: Allure, Interview, Hamptons, Ocean Drive, Gotham and Art & Auction among others. In addition to the publications which feature his columns, his photography has been featured worldwide in publications such as the New York Times Magazine, Vogue, Wall Street Journal, New York Post, Harper’s Bazaar, Details, In Style, Cosmopolitan and Out…just to name a few. Patrick McMullan is also a contributing editor at Vanity Fair.
Patrick McMullan has published five books of his photography: Secrets of the Riviera, Men’s Show, so8os: A Photographic Diary of a Decade, Kiss Kiss and Glamour Girls. His iconic so8os book (Publisher: powerHouse Books, edited and designed by Marie Havens) was the defining look at the 80s decade in nightlife photography, but his photography archive doesn’t merely contain photos from the 80s. Since the mid-70s Patrick McMullan has been photographing nightlife in New York City and elsewhere, and thus, he has amassed a gargantuan library of photographs, in addition to countless negatives that have never actually been seen. The Patrick McMullan photo collection is one of the largest topical photo archives of famous, living people in existence.
Patrick McMullan Company is a full service photography and digital imaging agency established in the 1980′s by Patrick McMullan. It is New York city’s premiere event photography studio and agency with a stable of in-house photographers, designers, editors and a sales team. The company photographs numerous events each week, many of which are PMc exclusives, and services images to the leading national and international publications. These nightly photographs are available for download at http://www.patrickmcmullan.com. In addition to current events, PMc maintains an extensive archive at http://www.patrickmcmullan.com, searchable by date, name and event, starting in 1980. PMc’s archive is a visual Who’s Who that is an invaluable resource to the media and the individual. The truth is: if there’s an event in New York City and Patrick McMullan or one of his photographers weren’t there, did it really happen?
PMc Magazine is Patrick McMullan’s latest venture. Creating a magazine has been a dream of his for over a decade, and the dream has finally come to fruition. With the help of Marie Havens (Creative Director), Tyler Malone (Editorial Director), and Anita Marie Antonini (Editor-At-Large), Patrick McMullan turned his dream into reality when on 01/01/11, PMc Magazine officially launched. The magazine is a venue for showcasing interesting people, events and art. It will obviously have a close tie to New York City’s nightlife, considering that Patrick McMullan is its founder, but its scope will not end there. It will include images and stories on art, fashion, film, television, music, literature, travel, business, politics, etc.
